Tips to Maximise Your Birthday Freebies Game

We’re financial advisers, so naturally we have opinions about strategy.

1. Sign up early. Most programs want you registered at least 2–4 weeks before your birthday. Krispy Kreme is a strict four-week minimum. Set a reminder.
2. Use a dedicated email. Loyalty emails will multiply like rabbits. Create a separate inbox so your real one doesn’t become a war zone.
3. Spread the celebration. Many offers cover your entire birthday month. Schedule one freebie per week and you’ve essentially gamified your birthday.
4. Bring photo ID. Some venues (looking at you, Taronga) will ask for proof. Don’t turn up empty-handed.
5. Stack with mates. Booking dinner for a group? Many restaurants throw in a complimentary cake, mocktail or dessert when you mention it’s a birthday. Always ask.
